Born in the year 1952 in the United Arab Emirates, Hussain Sajwani is the founder and the chairman of DAMAC real estate Company which is one of the leading in real estate sector in the Middle East. DAMAC properties was the fastest growing company in 2017 as per the Forbes ranking, and during the same period, Sajwani was ranked number four among the richest Arabs with a $ 4.1 billion net worth.
Sajwani was born in a conservative middle-class family that lived in Dubai, and that operated a family watch shop. While working in this family shop, Sajwani developed the desire to become an entrepreneur one day, and his aspiration today has become true. He was thirsty to continue with education, and his prayer was answered when he was selected in the first batch of students to study in the United States through a government scholarship program. He managed to advance his education from the University of Washington where he graduated with a First Degree in Economics and Engineering.
After graduation, Hussain Sajwani got an opportunity to work with Abu Dhabi gas industries in the year 1981. Two years later, he resigned and commenced his catering business which turned out to be very successful and its major customers were the US army and the Bechtel construction firm. Currently, the catering business is still operating as Global Logistic Service.
In the year, 2002 Hussain Sajwani formed DAMAC Properties, the company which has experienced high growth rate, and has become a household name in real estate business within Middle East. Since its foundation, DAMAC has constructed 19000 homes and over 44000 units under consultation. The firm entered the Dubai financial market in the year 2015, when it was publicly listed.
Hussain Sajwani has undertaken the work of some of the most famous important projects like Tiger Wood Golf Course, a property managed by Trump Organization. Other firms are Fendi Apartments and Bugatti luxury villas as well as Paramount Hotel and Resort. Besides his works in real estate, Sajwani is an active philanthropist and donates to charitable organization such as AED, a charitable initiative which was started to cater for disadvantaged children worldwide.
